Kelley engages in a battle of wits with Hermann Göring, Hitler's right-hand man, played by Russell Crowe. The movie also features Michael Shannon as Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, the main prosecutor in the trials.

The story’s protagonist, Jake Sully, is an ex-Marine who was wounded and paralyzed from the waist down in combat on Earth.
