Paramount Pictures has acquired screen rights to Nexus, the science fiction novel by Ramez Naam.

Mark Heyman has been set by Paramount and Indian Paintbrush to adapt the international bestseller novel Syndrome E.

The Oscar-nominated Black Swan continues to pay dividends for exec-turned-ascending scribe Mark Heyman. Heyman, who shares Swan screenwriting credit with John McLaughlin and Andres Heinz, has closed a deal to write Age of Rage, a sophisticated sci-fi project set up at Fox Searchlight with Marc Webb attached to direct.

Mandalay Pictures announced that they've attached Darren Aronofsky to direct Machine Man, based on a Max Barry novel that will be adapted by Mark Heyman. Cathy Schulman will produce for Mandalay and Barry will be exec producer.

Brad Pitt and Darren Aronofsky are teaming up in the wild. The thesp and director have set up the adventure thriller "The Tiger" at Focus Features and have tapped Guillermo Arriaga to pen the script.
