Rob Zombie has committed to make "The Lords of Salem" his next directorial outing. The film has been put together by Haunted Films, the company run by the "Paranormal Activity" team of Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and Oren Peli.

Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith, writer of "Legally Blonde," will make her directorial debut with "Camp Rules" from Paramount Pictures.

Miley Cyrus may be taking a step into the darkness. The Disney princess is attached to star in an adaptation of Lisa McMann's young-adult paranormal thriller novel "Wake" for Paramount Pictures and MTV Films, which are picking up film rights to the property.

Warner Bros. is negotiating to acquire feature rights to the landmark shooter from Taito, the Japanese company that originally manufactured the game. If the rights issues all work out, the project would bring on Hollywood fixtures Mark Gordon, Jason Blum and Guymon Casady as producers.

Paramount has hired screenwriter Michael R. Perry and director Kevin Greutert to create the sequel to 2009’s biggest surprise hit, “Paranormal Activity,” which scared up $151 million in worldwide grosses in the fall on a shoestring $15,000 budget and a shrewd, opt-in Web marketing campaign.
