• Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies announced that Rihanna will star as Smurfette in Untitled Smurfs Animated Film. Appearing on stage at 2023 CineCon, Rihanna announced that she will also write and perform original music and serve as a producer for the film (4/29/2023).
• This will be a musical and Puss in Boots director Chris Miller is on-board to direct the film (6/15/2022).
• Nickelodeon has the global rights to The Smurfs, which follows Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Hefty, Clumsy and other characters (2/10/2022).
• Based on characters and stories created by Belgian artist Pierre Culliford.
