About 20th Century Studios
20th Century Studios is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Studios, a division of The Walt Disney Company. Formerly known as 20th Century Fox, the studio was one of the "Big Six" major Hollywood film studios for over 83 years. In spring 2019, Disney acquired 21 Century Fox (the holding company for 20th Century Fox) in a huge $71.3 billion acquisition. The inclusion of the Fox name, which is often synonymous with the now unrelated FOX broadcast network and FOX News Channel brands, was retired and discontinued by Disney in early 2020.
Fox previously produced and released films under the following banners: 20th Century Fox, Fox 2000 (defunct as of 2019), Fox Searchlight Pictures (rebranded as Searchlight Pictures), Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox Animation (defunct as of 2020).
As of 2020, Disney is expected to use 20th Century Studios as a live-action adult label (similar to the retired Touchstone Pictures label in years past).
