An out-of-place college kid travels with a girl to Cancun on a break. While there, the girl and her friends are taken hostage by a drug cartel and he is forced to save them.
Set in Chicago, the world only recently discovered that magic is real. Sloane Andrews, one of the "Famous Five," as a teen defeated a villain known as the Dark One more than a decade earlier. Now, in adulthood, Sloane grapples with PTSD, fractured relationships, rabid media scrutiny and, worst of all, the prospect that their mission might not be finished yet after all.
