Sony Pictures has fast tracked a spinoff of its billion-dollar alien franchise.

The producers of Men in Black 4 hopes to reinvigorate the franchise by adding a female agent to the mix.

Producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have acquired film rights to Other Desert Cities, the Jon Robin Baitz stage play.

Bryan Sipe has signed on to do a re-write on the Parkes/MacDonald-produced feature The Kid Who Knew Too Much for Paramount, a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1934 and 1956 movies.

Robert Zemeckis is in negotiations to direct Flight, a drama for Paramount that has Denzel Washington loosely attached to star.

Neal Purvis and Robert Wade have been hired by Parkes MacDonald/Imagenation to pen an original action thriller based on a concept from Michael Lieber and Walter Parkes. Parkes, Lieber and Laurie MacDonald are producing the project.
