Centers on four kids that discover their beach holiday is actually a bonding trip with their potential future step-siblings. There, they find a magical, sandy creature called the Psammead who can grant them one wish a day, only to see the wish end as soon as the sun sets. The children must choose their wishes wisely and figure out how to combat an evil villain (Nighy) who tries to steal the magical creature for himself.
