Plot: Navy Lieutenant Commander Charles Swift is a member of the legal team that takes the case of Salim Hamdan, Osama bin Laden's Yemeni driver who is charged in the first US war-crimes trial since WWII, to the Supreme Court and wins a pretrial decision that even terrorists are covered by the Geneva Convention. The victory costs Swift his job and his marriage.
