Jessica Buchanan and her husband Erik Landemalm are performing humanitarian aid work in Eastern Africa when she and Danish citizen Poul Hagen Thisted are kidnapped in October 2011 by a band of Somalia land pirates. Buchanan fights to stay alive using deception and imagination, as her husband works with the FBI and U.S. military to keep the pirates negotiating. With Buchanan’s health declining, a Navy SEAL Team attacks the the pirates’ compound and kill all nine of them, rescuing Buchanan and Thisted.
