What's the story about?

Plot: A self-described proud sports atheist is sent on a lark by her editor to cover a sporting event. Her readers are amused, and she eventually spends four years covering major sporting events, writing humorous and somewhat academic essays. Along the way, she slowly becomes a convert, discovering the significance of sport, and how it affects her own life and relationships.
