Plot

Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.

What we know about the Everest movie production.

Key Facts

• While establishing shots will be taken in Nepal, they will film most of it in Baltasar Kormakur's native Iceland, the glaciers there are a facsimile of Everest. Nobody wants to be in Iceland during the winter (The Wrap, 2/19/13).

Changed the movie production status to Production. Currently shooting in Nepal and will also shoot in the Italian Dolomites and at Cinecitta Studios in Rome and Pinewood Studios in the U.K.

Changed the movie production status to Post-Production. The movie is now in the editing and finishing stages.

Changed the movie production status to Announced. Christian Bale is bracing to climb Mount Everest. Working Title Films has been trying to get the project off the ground, but would need to shoot this summer.
