Oscar the cat arrives at the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, R.I., as a kitten. A year later, the staff starts noticing that the tabby will curl up with patients a few hours before their death. Oscar is so on track that he becomes a warning signal for doctors and nurses, and the staff is able to notify friends and family early.
