A nameless, masked murderer leaves a trail of victims across the U.S. In a chance encounter on the plains of Nebraska, he kills a highway patrolman. Set years after a superflu virus has taken most of mankind off the map, a man lives in the hangar of an abandoned airport with his dog. He spends his days flying the perimeter in his Cessna, looking out for intruders and thinking about the things he’s lost—his deceased wife and the nearly extinct trout he loved to fish.
