A woman tries to research autism to find a way to break through the wall that keeps her son from communicating with her. She stumbles across a woman in India who had devised a rapid prompting technique. The woman begins using the technique, -- which consists of a series of touches that allows an autistic child to drown out the static in his brain, to focus and communicate by touching letters and writing words—to achieve the couple's goal of communicating with their son.
