Set 1965 Los Angeles, Mr. Church begins with a stranger arriving on the doorstep of 10-year-old CHARLOTTE “CHARLIE” BRODY and her single mother MARIE BRODY (40), who is battling breast cancer. They soon learn that the quiet man, HENRY CHURCH (40), has been hired by Marie’s recently deceased former lover to cook for them and help maintain the household. As Mr. Church’s time with the Brodys extends from months into years, he becomes a father figure for Charlie during her formative years, nurturing her love of literature and making a lasting impact on her life. Even as Mr. Church tries to keep his own life separate from the Brodys, he eventually learns that the connection he feels to Charlie is what family is all about.

The story of Zequi (Omar Chaparro), a recently released bank robber who goes to recover stolen money buried by his ditzy accomplice before he was incarcerated, only to find that a school gymnasium has been built over the burial site. To recover the money, he ends up taking a job as a substitute teacher and meets the sweet and earnest Lucy (Martha Higareda) as well as an unruly class of teenagers. Zequi finds that life on the inside may have been easier to deal with than a classroom of wild rebellious teens.

Set in both the late 80's and current day, "Back in the Day" is a gritty tale about Anthony Rodriguez, a half Italian - half Puerto Rican young teenager growing up on the streets of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn; a then very dangerous and racist neighborhood filled with bullies, big shots and social clubs where all of the neighborhood shots were called. Enzo connects Anthony with a trainer who means business and turns Anthony into a contender although his troubled life and loyalty to his friends, who seem to always get him into trouble, hinder his career. As he journeys into adulthood with the nearly impossible goal of achieving a successful professional boxing career, Anthony manages to not only go pro, but literally fight his way to the top and become a world champion middleweight boxer. But not without love, loss of love, humiliation, retaliation and revenge playing roles in his journey. But when he finally does make it, who will be left of the people Anthony has ever cared about, to share it with?

Winter had gone on for 80,000 years when, in a relatively short period of time the ice retreated, the landscape metamorphosed, the cycle of seasons was established and the beasts occupied their new kingdom. It was only later than man arrived to share this habitat, first tentatively as migratory hunter/gatherers, then making inroads in the forest as settled agriculturalists, and later more dramatically via industry and warfare.
