Jack (Schnabel), a down-on-his-luck fitness expert living with his mother in Los Angeles, takes a maniacal swing at fame and fortune. He attempts to realize his version of the American dream.
Follows a David, an Israeli fighter pilot shot down over Beirut in 1982. He eventually forms an unlikely alliance with a 10-year-old Palestinian refugee and their initial distrust soon develops into friendship as they make their way across war-torn Lebanon to a place they both call home.
Jack Vermillon is a successful businessman, owner of a container ship company called Black Water Transit Company. But he is desperate to help his ex-junkie son who is being sent to a maximum security prison for trafficking and armed robbery. Though he knows he can't get his son off, Jack wants to at least get him transferred to a less dangerous prison. He makes a deal with the feds to bust a crooked former CIA agent who wants a shipment of ancient & valuable weapons transported out of the country. However, when the bust goes done hell breaks loose leaving many feds and NYPD blue dead--and everyone wants to pin the blame on Jack, who now has to go on the run.
An anthropology bookworm is sad that there is no official ceremony to mark his transition into manhood. He decides to lead his hard-partying classmates to his family's abandoned ranch where his brother lives in a crazy world of drugs, guilt and Chumash Indian rituals.
