Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), Ed Harris, Monica Barbaro and Lewis Pullman have all joined the cast of the anticipated Top Gun sequel, Top Gun 2: Maverick.
The new film is set in the world of drone technology with Tom Cruise's Maverick character now a flight instructor. Miles Teller has a significant role as Maverick's trainee and the son of Goose, Maverick’s co-pilot in the original.
Variety reports Barbaro is a pilot and Teller’s love interest in the film. No word on the exact roles of Hamm, Harris and Pullman.
Oblivion helmer Joseph Kosinski is directing the film while famed producer Jerry Bruckheimer is on-board to produce once again (he co-produced the original 1986 film).
The sequel, which is currently in production, is set to be released on July 12, 2019.
